Bruce | September 18, 2013
Looking to rent a car to see some of fall’s amazing foliage? Well, there are plenty of wooded areas that are driving distance from Pickering, Ajax, Whitby or Oshawa. Each is close enough to make driving there easy, but beautiful enough to make leaving difficult.
Haliburton Highlands (2.5 hours north of Toronto):
Climb the Dorset Lookout Tower for a panoramic view of the fall colours. Don’t miss the Haliburton Forest and Wildlife Centre for the canopy walk and wolf centre.
Algonquin Provincial Park (3 Hours from Toronto)
Catch the maple at their peak in the last week of September or in the first few days of October. A couple of weeks later, the Aspens, Tamaracks and Red Oaks hit their peak.
Collingwood/ Blue Mountain (2 Hours from Toronto)
Be sure to try tree top trekking or the scenic caves tour to see view from the top of the escarpment.
Muskoka (2.5 Hours from Toronto)
This summer hot spot offers just as much appeal in the fall. You can enjoy the colours while cruising aboard the classic RMS Segwun steamship or while golfing. There is also hiking or biking along exhaustive trails throughout the park or enjoy canoeing along the many waterways.
